Frequently asked questions
Is the Foundation Tier useful, or is it just a teaser?
It is genuinely useful. Free, foundation members receive:
- Two CPD-accredited recordings every month
- Access to video clubs and watch parties
- Our discussion Threads community
- Member directory
- Discounts to Masters Events
Many therapists start on the free tier before upgrading – it is designed to support you, not trap you.
What is the difference between the Foundation (free) Tier and the Professional Tier?
The Foundation tier helps you begin; the Professional tier helps you go further:
- Monthly live expert sessions and follow up reflection sessions
- Full CPD accredited content archive (2021–present)
- Priority access to special events
- More advanced community spaces
Can I cancel the professional plan anytime?
Yes. You can cancel whenever you need to – no minimum term.
Can I upgrade from free to Professional Tier later?
Absolutely. Many therapists explore the free tier first, then upgrade when they want access to the live expert sessions and the full archive.
Upgrades take effect immediately.
What kinds of CPD will I get?
Meaningful, trauma-aware CPD – not tick-box training. You will learn from experts in trauma therapy, somatic work, IFS, attachment, embodiment, neglect, polyvagal theory and many more.
Professional members receive full archive access.
Free Members receive two curated CPD recordings each month
How much time do I need to get value from Common Threads?
As much or as little as you have. Some members join one live event per month and others use the library weekly. Some simply join the video clubs or drop into Threads when they need connection or reflection.
There is no expectation, no pressure, and no minimum commitment.
Is this a good space for early-career or trainee therapists?
Yes. Many of our members are:
- In training
- Newly qualified
- Returning to practice
- Shifting modality
Common Threads is a safe, supportive environment where you can learn at your own pace and ask questions without judgement.
What if I am already part of another CPD platform?
Common Threads is not a typical subscription library. It is a community – with live expert events, reflective spaces, peer support and ongoing conversation.
Many therapists use CT alongside other CPD platforms because it offers what others do not:connection, support and a sense of community and belonging.
Do I have to turn my camera on?
No. You’re welcome to join however feels comfortable for you. Camera on or off, you are equally welcome.
Are the events recorded?
Yes. Professional members can watch recordings of live expert sessions if they cannot attend in real time.
What kind of community behaviour do you expect?
Kindness, curiosity, professionalism and care. This is a trauma-informed environment – not a debate club or a place for performance. Members consistently tell us how safe and respectful the space feels.
Will other members be able to see my profile?
Only the basic information you choose to share. Everything in your profile is optional.
Do I need any special software?
No. Everything runs through your browser and Zoom.
